Three Looks

How to dress for an island where the dress code is French, and the shoes are always flat.

Warm-weather dressing is mostly a problem of subtraction. The heat removes your options, the sea removes your styling, and what survives is the small number of pieces that go from sand to lunch to a late table without a second thought. That is more or less the brief we design to — natural, consciously sourced fabrics, made to be worn all day.

Below are three looks for an ordinary day somewhere like this week's destination — St. Barths — and, at the bottom, four pieces from our line that slot straight into them. Nothing here requires a heel, an iron, or a decision before nine in the morning.

The shirt that runs the morning

An oversized shirt worn open over your swimsuit, sleeves rolled, with soft pull-on shorts and flat leather slides. Add a straw tote big enough for a towel and a paperback, and the morning is handled — dune path to espresso bar without a change of plan.

The Seasonal Note

What we are actually wearing this season

Every summer the long list narrows to five things: one shirt that works over everything, one skirt that turns a t-shirt into an outfit, one dress that can go from sand to a late table, and the flat sandal that has already proven itself. Everything else in the bag tends to be a version of a trip that never happens.

Fabric decides more than color does. We cut in natural, consciously sourced materials because they breathe in the heat, recover from a suitcase, and feel better on the third wear than the first. The palette follows on its own: white, sand, black, and a stripe when the day calls for one.

The one piece of styling advice we would actually give: choose the shoe first. It settles the hem, the length of the dress and how far you are willing to walk at seven in the evening, which turns out to be most of what an outfit is for.
